May 4th, 2011 Gator Resisting Arrest

Alligator Bites Officer's Car Bumper

An Alachua County, Florida Sheriff's office squad car is going to need some repairs after a gator tried to take a bite out of crime.

Deputies responded to a home in Gainesville this weekend after a 10-foot gator wandered into the yard. The gator wasn't too thrilled to see law enforcement so it crawled up to Deputy Borrero's parked car and chomped onto the bumper.

Officials put the car in reverse and slowly backed up but the gator kept on pulling on the bumper. It wasn't until the front tag frame busted that the unhappy reptile let go causing about two thousand dollars worth of damage.

A trapper was able to quickly detain the gator and safely remove him from the property.

Luckily no one was hurt but the gator was destroyed.
