Sept 2, 2010: Philly Recycling Trucks

Stick out your can, here come the garbage man... Uh, recycling man.

Philly decided to make their fleet of recycling trucks more noticeable, to promote the program.

The city already had a bunch of kids involved in the Mural Arts Program, so they hooked them up with the The Design Center at Philadelphia University's collection of 19th & early 20th century textile designs.
Shazam, next time somebody gets run over by one of these, the news footage will make the city look much nicer.

... next time

SPUCK  Thursday Sep 2 06:40 AM

Yeah I agree.

Wouldn't this wreck look so much nicer if the trucks had those retro pattern paint jobs that contrasted nicely with the Smart car parked between them.

xoxoxoBruce  Thursday Sep 2 06:45 AM

Precisely. People would say, 'What classy trucks, I wanna wreck in Philly'.

spudcon  Thursday Sep 2 07:38 AM

Pimps in Philly drive some big cars!

Trilby  Thursday Sep 2 08:03 AM

I approve.

newtimer  Thursday Sep 2 09:07 AM

American jeepneys?

BobT  Thursday Sep 2 10:57 AM

jinx  Thursday Sep 2 06:58 PM

All 3 of the trucks pointed to the right are at the same intersection.

xoxoxoBruce  Friday Sep 3 12:25 AM

Yes, the pictures were taken as they were circling city hall, at their unveiling celebration.

ToastyOhs  Friday Sep 3 01:21 PM

You can't fool me Bruce, I know what really happened... The same truck got tagged by a bunch of different gangs. Gangs who happen to specialize in 19'th century textile patterns. They are a real problem.

spudcon  Friday Sep 3 05:05 PM

I hate it when that gang tags my garbage trucks.

That's what makes Philly unique... or the ghey.

sweetwater  Saturday Sep 4 07:49 AM

Just a guess, but I bet the drivers/sanitation engineers have names as colorful as the trucks themselves for their new rides.

City of Brotherly Love. What else would you expect, sports team logos or patterns involving beer bottles?
