Aug 7, 2010: Zipper Boat

This being Shark Week, reminding us of all the toothy critters in the sea, the best way to protect ourselves is to zip 'em up.

Motorboat Zipper Illustrates Art On The Fly.
The 2010 Setouchi International Art Festival provides plenty of up close, hands-on exhibits for visitors to wonder at but one of the most interesting artworks is best viewed from afar... or even better, from the sky. That's because the unusual Zipper Motorboat crafted by Japanese avant-garde artist Yasuhiro Suzuki works when taken in context: cruising over a serene ocean bay, leaving a long wake behind it.

Hey Thats ME !!!

xoxoxoBruce  Saturday Aug 7 01:06 AM

Think you could keep your zipper up long enough to get safely by the beach?

SPUCK  Saturday Aug 7 06:37 AM

Hope nothing gets caught in it.

sweetwater  Saturday Aug 7 07:58 AM

...and to add an extra element to the "zipper" visual: could follow in the wake

Tick  Saturday Aug 7 02:48 PM

Heh. Just wait until I get this Evinrude bolted to my giant avant-garde fiberglass bed pan. Now that's art!

Gravdigr  Saturday Aug 7 05:07 PM

My name is Levi, and Ima make a boat that looks like a button. I will call it 'The 501'.

Srsly tho, that's the cleverest thing I've seen this year. Luvvitt.

Undertoad  Saturday Aug 7 05:22 PM

When this boat's a-dockin', don't come a-knockin'.

that's all i got

I'd rather be at sea in a boat built by a boat builder than by an artist. Can't call me a "wet blanket" becuase I would stay a lot dryer! Can't call me "unimaginative" because my imagination works very well in helping me choose between the two projected boats. Can't even call me "conservative" because I'm not. Can't figure out what to call me!

That boat sure flies

You'll go twice as fast if you bolt an Evinrude on your Johnson.

On a very loosely related note, there is a band in the Bowling Green, KY area that goes by the name "Nine Horse Johnson".
