June 29, 2010: Koba's Girls

This is Koba, and her class of Afghan girls.

Why is this picture notable?

Quote:
In Afghanistan from 2006 to 2008, there were 461 attacks on schools for girls, and in 2008, 15 girls were attacked with battery acid on their way to school.
~
Koba, 22, has been teaching for two years. She was the only teacher who allowed the photographer to take her picture. (Other teachers feared reprisal if their families found out they'd been photographed.)
That's why this picture is notable.

Those Afghan men know how to keep their damn property in line, I'll tell you.

* Salutes Koba *

That is the front line of the war right there. Without her and her kind, all the efforts and sacrifices of our soldiers would be pointless.

I'm stuck for recipes, though. I've never marinaded in battery acid before.

Come on SPUCK! You should know that broads don't like being called babe.

It's disrespectful.

Antimatter  Tuesday Jun 29 09:26 AM

I'm with Elspode on this one...

IF those Afghan girls go to school they might learn to read.
And IF they learn to read they might start using written recipes when cooking.
And IF they start using recipes for cooking they might start searching the net for interesting new recipes.
And IF ZenGum finds a recipe for Afghan school girl marinated in battery acid and posts it here one of them may find it and decide to give it a try.
And while Afghan school girl marinated in battery acid might be okay for us to eat I'm pretty sure it's not halal. So yeah, it's a good thing the Afghan men know how to keep their damn property in line.

That's right. They prefer being called dames.

Not all of them, but the Taliban and their minions sure try.
