The best real estate agents in Montgomery County

May 3, 2010: Helicam

Say I've got a little shindig going on in the backyard.
And say I've got an expensive new DSLR, to capture those Kodak moments.
Now say I want to get a high angle cleavage shot, but I'm afraid of ladders and the roof.
What to do... what to do?

I know. I'll tie my expensive new DSLR to a Radio Controlled helicopter.
What could go wrong?

Quote:
In a quest to get the perfect shot, Eric Austin, a Texas-based videographer, found a neat way to fuse a remote controlled helicopter and a Canon DSLR camera so he could shoot aerial videos easily and get the kind of footage that would otherwise be difficult to pull off.
“I took a hobbyshop helicopter and modified it to hold a camera, so I can get low altitude, close and tight aerial shots,” Austin told Wired.com.
You can buy an RC helicopter for about $400 and attach any old camera, but this dude has $15,000 tied up in this rig.

He can make a fortune renting it out to low budget indy and porn films for aerial shots.

That's a good find Bruce. That would be great to have when I go on vacation next week.

That's really cool. I think it would be more interesting if he had a live video feed coming down from the camera to a monitor and he flew the thing by watching the monitor so he could be certain of the framing of the shot. He needs to just "wing it" the way it's currently set up.

Props to him for ingenuity. However, I shutter to think what will happen when the paparazzi starts using this tech.

Or, what will happen to my neighbors when I start using it.

On behalf of helicopters everywhere, I'd like to thank HungLikeJesus for the Jesus Nut contribution to helicopter design.

Now I finally understand this "christ gave his body..." business.

I bet if you used glatt's PlantCam, you could go back in time.

For just 4.5 million dollars more you can have this:

and use it to threaten your daughters' potential suitors.

Jesus nut? I think Wolf has mentioned him.

Planning to go for some high angle cleavage shots, are you?

HungLikeJesus  Tuesday May 4 11:00 PM

Yes - we're leaving for Kauai tomorrow night.

xoxoxoBruce  Tuesday May 4 11:07 PM

We'll settle for low angle cameltoes.
