xoxoxoBruce Friday May 22 01:39 AMMay 22, 2009: K-9 Andy
"Cry Havoc! And slip the dogs of war".
But unlike those dogs of war, K-9 Andy is in the war to save lives.
Good boy, he's a good boy, Andy's a good boy.

An U.S. Army military working dog, Andy, searches among rubble and trash outside a target building, during a joint operation with the Iraqi army and U.S. Soldiers of 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, in Rusafa, eastern Baghdad, Iraq, on Feb. 28. The Soldiers are searching for weapons caches and targeted insurgents.

Now you can't eat Andy, our soldiers need him to help them, and hopefully Andy, to get home alive.
This being Memorial Day weekend, take a moment to remember what it's about... m'kay.
All right then, have fun and be safe.

SPUCK Friday May 22 05:46 AMSir, this model dog comes with carrying handles!
Undertoad Friday May 22 07:49 AMGood boy!
I wonder if there are Army Standard Poop Pickup Bags, or is there enough rubble that nobody cares? Are our fine soldiers walking around Baghdad carrying around little plastic bags of dog dukey?
Don't show this post to tw, he is convinced the military doesn't use dogs.
capnhowdy Friday May 22 07:58 AMNo need for dukey bags. No matter where he shits it's in 'somebody elses' yard.
Organic land mines.
Hillrick Friday May 22 08:40 AMDogs Rock. Period.
Could we not have the inevitable wit making the Asian comment regarding dogs just this once?

Well you started it...
No I didn't--you invaded Poland!
newtimer Friday May 22 01:22 PMWhat IS the backpack for? When I first saw the photo, I assumed Andy is one of the suicide-bomber dogs. After he sets off the charges that he's strapped to his body, then he'll go to insurgent doggy Heaven, where there are 72 legs to hump.

Which is why Andy seems to be thinking "hey, ya know what? Forget the 72 legs, really, I'm fine with humping the couch."

On the other hand, some Andy K-9s *incite* murderous rage.

I just caught that myself. You beat me to the post. Must have been something more than routine. My vet never shaves my dogs to draw blood.
I was thinking they most likely check these soldiers blood frequently and do that as a sterility thing.
I'd like to think it was his name, rank, and serial #. And his decorations.
I've never met any GI dogs except for these.
