The way we played it when I was a kid:

Padiddle - driver's side headlight out
Eldidap - driver's side taillight out
Padiddle-iddle - passenger's side headlight out
Eldidapadiddle - passenger's side taillight out

I was raised in Texas. This should explain everything.
