October 21, 2008: Horsetree

When impress post this picture in the WTF thread, I figured it was a photoshop job.

But Neatorama points to this Telegraph story.

Quote:
The horse, called Gracie, was unable to free itself and could have been in danger were it not for a passer-by who was able to come to the rescue after he heard the horse whinnying .

Jason Harschbarger, a neighbour in the town of Pullman, West Virginia, USA, arrived at the scene which resembled the image of Winnie the Pooh getting stuck in the honey tree.

Mr Harschbarger collected his tools and was able to carefully set the horse free by using a chainsaw to slowly cut the wood around its neck.

However, before he did so, he was able to take a few photographs.

Fortunately for Gracie, she was able to escape her ordeal with only a few minor injuries and, according to Mr Harschbarger, is on the road to recovery.

If Gracie wasn't freaked enough by getting her head stuck in a tree, the chainsaw must have really blown her mind.

What a com-PLETEly undignified position for a horse to be in...tsk, tsk!

ZenGum  Tuesday Oct 21 05:31 AM

Why did the horse stick its head in the tree?

This is both a set-up for any comedians about, and a serious request for information. That's metazeugmatic, woah.

SPUCK  Tuesday Oct 21 06:04 AM

Mon that be whereis stash was!!!

spudcon  Tuesday Oct 21 08:49 AM

He was trying to climb the tree, and slipped. His buddy Harold the sheep was roosting in the tree, and he wanted to visit. Even tho I've seen a horsefly, horses can't fly, hence, he tried to climb. It's all very simple, once you use logic.

Shall we trot out that old chestnut whose punchline ends with "And I wish it were dark?"

Note, I managed two puns there w/o much effort.

Sundae  Tuesday Oct 21 09:40 AM

Catholic horse - mistook it for the confessional.
"Bless me Father for I have sinned, I have coveted my neighbour's ass."

Sheldonrs  Tuesday Oct 21 09:53 AM

Maybe he was just practicing treeilingus.

Keen eye! I love it even more. And you're right, maybe the horse wanted pancakes and maple syrup.

Probably a horse chestnut tree.

lumberjim  Tuesday Oct 21 08:54 PM

it's fairly obvious to me. this horse had been to her girlfriend's bachelorette party, and had a few too many. She was 'talking on the big phone' when she lost her footing.

Skylight  Thursday Oct 23 01:44 PM

and here i was thinking that the horse was sitting there for so long that the tree grew around it.

Clodfobble  Thursday Oct 23 03:16 PM

The way it's sitting, it reminds me of Eeyore.

Elspode  Thursday Oct 23 08:06 PM

Or perhaps "Treeyore?"
