August 8 (B), 2008: Dachshund potato

Pictures of a sweet potato I found, which happens to resemble my doxie named Brinks.

Sheldonrs  Friday Aug 8 06:26 PM

And the weiner is...

Aliantha  Friday Aug 8 06:29 PM

Mmmm...sweet potato...in dog shape.

WillieO  Friday Aug 8 07:01 PM

"I Yam" I said, to no one there...Neil Diamond

sweetwater  Friday Aug 8 09:05 PM

Then it's not a dolphin?

xoxoxoBruce  Friday Aug 8 11:15 PM

More like a dog-phin.

SPUCK  Saturday Aug 9 05:31 AM

So that's not the Virgin Mary?

DanaC  Saturday Aug 9 05:35 AM

It's certainly virgin on the ridiculous....

Phage0070  Saturday Aug 9 01:13 PM

Perhaps your dog just resembles a sweet potato.

spudcon  Saturday Aug 9 04:24 PM

Good point, Phage

spudcon  Saturday Aug 9 04:26 PM

But on the other hand, it may be this...

Good one, Dana!

jinx  Saturday Aug 9 08:10 PM

You cut pieces off other potatoes to put legs on this one?

Why?

Flint  Saturday Aug 9 09:47 PM

I'm sure we can come up with a recipe, using a sweet potato and a weenie dog.

Cicero  Sunday Aug 10 05:41 PM

I'm just glad there's a reason this thread title was making me hungry....That's such a relief!

richlevy  Sunday Aug 10 06:00 PM

Well if he's a sweet potato, then he probably eats Iams.

Gravdigr  Sunday Aug 10 06:43 PM

(Channelling Popeye): I yam what I yam, and that's all that I yam! Later taters!

rupip  Monday Aug 11 02:36 AM

just a little language-lesson :
Dachshund is a German word and means badgerdog. Dachs = badger, Hund = dog
in German we call them Dackel

makes no sense but that is the way it is

Such interest in a dachshund-shaped potato.

Actually, I did have to cheat a bit. The 'front' legs are natural nubs, but there were no 'back' legs until I substituted the tips from 2 other sweet potatoes. It hardly seemed fair to leave the poor thing with only two legs, and stubby ones at that.

That is a good point, so I guess I'll go back and have a closer look. Truth is, Brinks is already 9 years old, so if he makes it to 15 or so, he'll probably become a vegetable. Of some sort.

xoxoxoBruce  Monday Aug 18 10:40 AM

This picture is getting around

So technically, those other sweet poatoes were donors, right?
Oh no wait - that's kebabs

Well, who wants a paraplegic sweet tater?

BigV  Wednesday Aug 20 05:21 PM

double amputee-tater

ZenGum  Wednesday Aug 20 09:46 PM

Well, when the chips are down, it's apeeling to have someone rooting for you and keeping an eye on you.
