lawman Friday Mar 7 11:51 AMMarch 7, 2008: Indonesian Kimodo Draggin'
While en route to a dive location in Indonesia last month, this scooter pulled in front of us - and I managed to shoot one clear (mostly) picture before he zipped down another side road.
I didn't know that these were edible, I certainly didn't see it offered on any menus!
Yes, I'm pretty sure it was dead as it wasn't scrambling on the pavement at all.
lookout123 Friday Mar 7 11:53 AMthat's one heckuva meat tenderizer.
glatt Friday Mar 7 12:43 PMHey lawman, great picture!

In addition to the venom, dragons also possess virulent bacteria in their saliva, of which more than 28 Gram-negative and 29 Gram-positive strains have been isolated. These bacteria cause septicemia in their victim; if an initial bite does not kill the prey animal and it escapes, it will commonly succumb within a week to the resulting infection. The deadliest bacteria in Komodo dragon saliva appears to be a very deadly strain of Pasteurella multocida, from studies performed with lab mice. Because the Komodo dragon appears immune to its own microbes, much research has been done searching for the antibacterial molecule in the hopes of human medicinal use.

xoxoxoBruce Friday Mar 7 10:54 PMAsians eat a lot of things we westerners consider rather icky.
tulzscha Saturday Mar 8 01:39 PMI don't think that's really a Komodo Dragon, more likely some sort of monitor lizard.
Still, I hope it reaches up and bites him on his ass.

I agree Tulzscha, but then the pun would be lost (see title/dateline above the pic). And you KNOW Cellar Dwellers never lose the pun!
