I don't know who is more of an idiot, the guy who set himself on fire or the person trying to put him out with a child in hand.

the lady in the white t shirt seems very concerned that he's dropped his sandal. she's just going to fetch that for him.

Seriously, that's awful. That he should feel so desperate as to do that to himself.

...it's bad enough to do that to yourself, but to involve innocent animals is unforgiveable. As I scrolled through the images in barefoot's link, I came across three pictures with these captions. I took the liberty of translating.

It's interesting how our bodies will revolt against our "higher reasoning" when we are doing stupid shit. His well laid plans for setting himself on fire were halted by his body once it felt the pain. Then all his brain was able to comprehend was "Oh, sweet Jesus, that hurts. Make it stop."

A wiser person would have predicted this and either completely doused themselves from head to toe in gasoline before lighting themselves so the job would be finished even when they had second thoughts. Or else they would have admitted the inevitability of defeat and had a fire extinguisher and some heavy blankets sitting on the curb next to them.
