A more than 20-kilo (41-lb) mushroom has been picked in a forest in Mexico's southernmost state of Chiapas, university officials said Tuesday. The white mushroom, macrocybe titans, measured a towering 70 cm (27 in) tall, was found near Tapachula, near the Guatemalan border, according to the Southern Border University Center. |

Wow - micology is one of my most favored hobbies. I have seen a lot of oddly shaped and/or colored mushrooms in my day, but that thing is outrageously huge!

I can't tolerate the fungus. It ranks slightly lower on my worst foods list than coconut, which is known to cause projectile vomiting.
There is no danger of me offering to eat this IOTD.

I've seen giant puffballs in Colorado that approach that size. But they don't have the 'stem' part -- they're all 'cap'.

But, i did find the mother of all mushrooms (of the variety people around here like to eat, don't ask me what they are) one year while mushroom hunting with my brothers and dad (which is actually fun!) I guess they ate it, i just kept the picture.

I bet North Korea's leader is eying that and thinking, "Maybe, I'll ask for that in my next round of nuclear talks/concessions." I also bet that the people of North Korea would suffer a lot less if they overthrew their 'leader' than if they had all the mushrooms in the world.
