4/10/2002: Big-ass shoes

He's James Syiemiong, he's in India, and he makes shoes. After seeing the World Trade Center go down, he was insipred to make a pair of really really big shoes.

"The New York tragedy changed my approach towards life. I thought I could do something as a professional that could convey my grief and sense of anger at the mindless violence."

The shoes are 3.71 metres long. He expects to make the next Guinness book.

Why, you ask? Why not? Do what you are driven to do, I say.

LLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEYYYYYYYYY!

It almost looks p-shopped. Almost.

Well, for the folks who thought the sand sculpture was trivializing 9/11, we have these shoes...

"Really big shoes" --Ed Sullivan

How the hell do you link big shoes and S11?!

Tobiasly  Thursday Apr 11 01:00 AM

Maybe he's stomping mad.

Make that really stomping mad.

James is one wacky cobbler. You have to be impressed by his craft, the sheer volume of leather, the stitching and with Western flair, they're obviously intended for giant dancing, or at least giant strutting. Thank you James.

Like, fly planes into big tall buildings?

hairdog  Thursday Apr 11 09:57 AM

Maybe he's, uh, compensating?

blowmeetheclown  Thursday Apr 11 10:58 AM

This guy has soul. I mean, most people would just sit around and feel like a heel, but he's sockin' it to 'em and definitely not loafing around.
Hey man, if the shoe fits...

Griff  Thursday Apr 11 12:03 PM

He is definitely a shoe-in for most patriotic foreigner. *cough*

Undertoad  Thursday Apr 11 12:11 PM

It won't solve the world's problems but maybe it's a good first step?

hairdog  Thursday Apr 11 12:32 PM

That's one giant step for mankind. A truly awesome feat. Before we poke fun at him, just walk a mile in his shoes. Should take about 10 steps, I reckon.

And  Thursday Apr 11 01:05 PM

it's not the size of your shoes...

It's not so much that he's made big shoes for 9/11, but that he's made big pimpin' shoes for 9/11.

jaguar  Thursday Apr 11 07:18 PM
