September 15, 2006: Fattest raccoon

Another Neatorama entry today, the official cap via the source:

Quote:
Fattest Raccoon Ever Recorded
It's probably safe to say that Bandit the pet raccoon didn't climb to the tops of many trees, especially when his weight mushroomed to 75 pounds. Shown here in 1991 with owner Deborah Klitsch of Palmerton, Penn., Bandit weighed more than three times the average weight for a male coon. He passed away in May 2004, fat and sassy.

Holy Shit, that'd make a great coat!

Palmerton: the Zinc capitol of the world.

Let's not forget how much stew he'd make either.

I trapped these things for fur many moons ago. We considered a 20 lb coon huge. We got 12 -18 bucks for the animals depending on their size. There are people on the southside of town that would give you 5-10 bucks for him to eat. I tried it once with hot sauce and sweet taters (slow baked). Not bad but not my cup of tea. When we would sell one for people to eat it would be skinned already (of course...since we were harvesting hides). Nobody would buy it unless you left a foot on him. That way they were sure it was a racoon and not some other animal. Sheesh.

WOW!!

You know... it would also make a hell of a bowling bag... just hollow it out and use the hands and feet for the handles :-) You'd even have room for the shoes.

You could also use the tail for a ball polisher and store your bowling gloves in the head!

Okay... I am spending waaaaaaaaay too much time alone. I really have to get a girlfriend.

"I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home. They're not much bigger than two meters..."

Lucas missed an opportunity to incorporate womp rats into one of the prequels. I would have liked to see some nasty big rat munching on a moisture evaporator, or whatever they eat.
