8/4/2006: Tree frog declares squatting rights

This little fella is far too proud of himself.

xoB finds these taken in Cary, NC, of the mighty tree frog taking over residence in a bird house. We don't want to consider who would win in a fight if a bluebird wants right of return.

Because it's a beaut!

The photog thoughtfully provided a timeline of the activity.

Sundae  Friday Aug 4 12:48 PM

I can go home happy now, what a warm and fluffy Friday IotD! (Or cool, damp & wriggly, whatever)

I'd put a pink birdhouse in my back yard if I thought I'd get a little green friend like that!

Is it just me, or do all bright green animals look fresh and tasty? I often contemplate eating Aphids because of their colour....

Trilby  Friday Aug 4 02:28 PM

In pic number two he looks like Mr. Burns saying, "eX-hactly..."

Sundae, you crack me up.

Griff  Friday Aug 4 02:57 PM

They do sound pretty good when you spell color with a "u".

How else would you spell it

Griff  Friday Aug 4 04:35 PM

The Aaaamerrricannn way. Maybe color is okay too.
chicken fried frog
froggy poppers
frog in a basket
frog -n- chips
oven roasted frog
Buffalo legs

capnhowdy  Friday Aug 4 07:38 PM

He can't stay there too long. If he doesn't have ample moisture, he'll soon die. I learned that the hard way as a child. Hard for me. Fatal for the frog. Lord forgive me.
Very nice pics. You can't go wrong on Fridays here.

SOUND OFF!
Hound Dog, Coon Town, Tree Frog.

(you ain't got no friends on your left,
that's right...)

When the photographer posted that timeline picture, he said Lil Kermit was back in the box the next morning.

Why, is a birdhouse drier than a tree would be?

capnhowdy  Saturday Aug 5 06:03 PM

I would think so, although I am no expert. They need moisture and I'm sure they get a lot from dew, fog, etc. As a child I tried to keep one in a small cage. He lasted about two days.
When I clean my birdhouses each Winter, they are really dry and dusty.

Elspode  Monday Aug 7 09:45 AM

According to those timestamps, the little guy doesn't exactly move fast.

MsSparkie  Monday Aug 7 10:13 AM

He is a wanderer, not the type to settle down....a heartbreaker.

capnhowdy  Monday Aug 7 06:35 PM

a young maverick who won't settle down......

Griff  Tuesday Aug 8 07:38 AM

Who is the tall, dark stranger there?

Maverick is the name.

Ridin’ the trail to who knows where,

Luck is his companion. Gamblin’ is his game.

xoxoxoBruce  Monday Aug 14 11:38 PM

FLASH!! Hot off the wires. Mr Tree Frog has not only extended his lease, he's moved in a Ho frog.

capnhowdy  Wednesday Aug 16 06:52 PM

That should solve the moisture problem......

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa......hold on there....!!!!!!

What's with this "double standard" crap???? He is just a guy, but she is a ho?

I hate to do this to you but!!!!

20 lashes with a wet noodle Bruce! Sigh.....:p

xoxoxoBruce  Wednesday Aug 16 08:40 PM

She moved into the established residence of a bachelor.
If she had grabbed a cab before the milkman came around, she'd have been clean.
But now, all the neighbors know, so she's a Ho.
Mr Tree Frog, in response to the neighbors, said, "Rubbit".

xoxoxoBruce  Tuesday Aug 22 08:14 PM

It's and epidemic.
A man is Caskill, NY, claims this little guy has used this birdhouse as a summer residence for the last three years.
