6/12/2006: Cat scares bear

This one is too worthwhile and too timely to wait for Friday. The cat seen in the foreground is Jack, and Jack has scared that bear up that tree. From the full story, dateline West Milford, New Jersey:

Quote:
Neighbor Suzanne Giovanetti first spotted Jack's accomplishment after her husband saw a bear climb a tree on the edge of their northern New Jersey property on Sunday. Giovanetti thought Jack was simply looking up at the bear, but soon realized the much larger animal was afraid of the hissing cat.

After about 15 minutes, the bear descended and tried to run away, but Jack chased it up another tree.

Okay, now that is one damn good cat.

And one pansy-ass bear.

Iggy  Monday Jun 12 01:32 AM

All fear the wrath of the Jack the Cat.

Torrere  Monday Jun 12 01:36 AM

hehehehehehheehe *cackle!*

Good kitty!

rupip  Monday Jun 12 02:31 AM

...in their last fight bear bit off Jack´s tail. I wonder what Jack did to the bear?!?!

xoxoxoBruce  Monday Jun 12 04:38 AM

Well, that bear use to have balls.

milkfish  Monday Jun 12 07:28 AM

You don't understand. That cat's with the Mob here.

Trilby  Monday Jun 12 10:56 AM

What's with all the bears in the news recently? Has anyone else noticed an increase in bear-related news?

And, that's a pretty damn funny pic.

Happy Monkey  Monday Jun 12 11:27 AM

Bears are the #1 threat to America.

Actually, that's not precisely true. Gay terrorist bears in favor of same-sex marriage while teaching evolution are the #1 threat to America.

Only the ones who are anti-Christian!

Pie  Monday Jun 12 03:59 PM

But they're teaching evolution. Doesn't that make them anti-Christian by definition?

Do people build their homes in the woods?

You have no idea what that cat said to that bear.

Habitat destruction, growth of suburbs into bear territory= more bears in the suburbs.

http://www.hsus.org/wildlife/wildlif...with_guns.html

They could have tried Jack instead of the lethal hunts. Or training humans not to leave bear-attracting items laying around the yard in bear country.

We reserve the right to arm bears.

capnhowdy  Monday Jun 12 05:59 PM

or bear arms?

BBQ bear arms
Sweet & sour bear arms
Chicken fried bear arms
Bear arms & dumplings
etc.. yummy

xoxoxoBruce  Monday Jun 12 10:01 PM

The HSUS claims people are moving into bear country in NJ. It's more like bears are moving into people country. Bears are moving into neighborhoods that haven't seen a bear in 200 years, because of the increase in the bear population.
PA has more bears than anyone and NJ bears are still crossing the Delaware River to forage over here.

The biggest attraction, by far, in not garbage but bird feeders. Bird seed is like MREs to bears...ready to eat, tasty, high energy meals for free.

Elspode  Monday Jun 12 11:16 PM

Bears were here first. That means we need to let them open casinos and tax exempt tobacco shops to finance their relocation.

then I sighed with relief

Pancake Man  Tuesday Jun 13 12:01 AM

To the bear's friends, however, that cat was about 100 times larger, and the bear could only fight it for a few hours.

wolf  Tuesday Jun 13 01:31 AM

Bear is good eatin', and you get a nice rug out of the deal, and a couple necklaces.

Shawnee123  Tuesday Jun 13 09:09 AM

Such is the uncaged progress of the bear.
The world has room to make a bear feel free;
The universe seems cramped to you and me.
Man acts more like the poor bear in a cage
That all day fights a nervous inward rage

--Robert Frost

Trilby  Tuesday Jun 13 01:12 PM

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright,
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
--Wm Blake

See? The kitty knows he's really a tyger. Rrrrrrrr!

Shawnee123  Tuesday Jun 13 03:31 PM

That'll teach him to show his bear ass in public.
