4/18/2006: Sex slave brides

Via 20 Minutos "24 horas en fotos" we have this item which reads Ayer esclavas del sexo, hoy felices novias.

These women are Taiwanese. During World War II, they were forced by the Japanese to be sex slaves. After which, I suppose, they became outcasts of a sort, never to be married. Never wore a wedding gown, so the caption says.

So a women's support group has put together a sorta-wedding ceremony with the gowns and the flowers and all. It doesn't say anything about why, or whether this is personally fulfilling to them. I would want to show them every level of humanity to make up for the inhumanity. They do seem to be happy about it (at least 4 out of 6).

Inscrutable.

The one covering her mouth also got a wedding ring. Two, in fact.

So throw the bouquets already!

are those Tokyo roses?

Trilby Tuesday Apr 18 05:37 PM

Look. I didn't even go to the pic. All I want to say is, based on the title of this Iotd--I WANNA BE YOUR SEX SLAVE, DADDY!

that is all.

Ooh. Just read the article stuff. Actually, don't want to be an old, horrid, nasty, used-up sex slave. Wish to be young, fresh sex slave.

Carry on.

Shocker Tuesday Apr 18 06:18 PM

wow

that is all

Kagen4o4 Tuesday Apr 18 07:15 PM

And take on Jap soldiers at the rate of 12 to 15 per hour, 10 or 12 hours per day, every day of the week for months or years on end?

Undertoad Tuesday Apr 18 07:34 PM

I was thinking about saying Asian sex slave brides, but there was a limit to my decency and besides, can you imagine the inbound links we would get.

milkfish Tuesday Apr 18 08:36 PM

I'm guessing the brides won't be enjoying their simulated honeymoon at Kanamara Matsuri.

too bad most of the Japanese "war criminals" never got the same publicity and punishment that some of the Nazis did...

capnhowdy Wednesday Apr 19 07:38 PM

The two that look unhappy realize they are even uglier than the other four. Bleh.

AureliusVin Thursday Apr 20 10:20 AM

Boy, I bet they reminisced about the good old days.
